Conroe is officially on the map as one of the most sought-after suburbs in the country.

A study by moveBuddha, analyzing data from their Moving Cost Calculator between January 2024 and February 2025, reveals the most sought-after suburbs in major U.S. metropolitan areas for 2025. Conroe stood out with a move in-to-out ratio of 1.45. This means for every 100 people considering leaving Conroe, 145 are planning to move in, a clear indicator of its growing desirability.

Conroe, originally a sawmill town founded in 1881, now ranks as the 19th most desired suburb in the nation, according to this survey. Its appeal stems from a blend of family-friendly activities, a picturesque lake, a lower crime rate, and affordable housing. Notably, Texas boasts three suburbs within the top 25, reflecting a broader trend.

  • Frisco (5th): Located in the thriving Dallas-Fort Worth region, Frisco is a hub of job growth and cultural expansion. In February 2025, the median listing home price was $667,413.
  • Georgetown (18th): This charming suburb north of Austin offers a balance of affordability and community. The median sold home price in February 2025 was $453,960.
  • Conroe (19th): Situated near Houston, Conroe provides affordable living without sacrificing quality of life. The median sold home price was $325,164 in February 2025.
