Andrew Brenneise made a significant career shift when he transitioned from a decade-long career as an engineer in the oil and gas industry to becoming a State Farm Insurance agent.
After spending a decade in oil and gas, Andrew sought a change that would allow him to build something of his own while staying connected to his community in Cypress. For the past two years, he has successfully run his own insurance agency.
This transition wasn’t just about a career change; it was about creating a balance that allowed him to be more present for his family. As a father to 5-year-old Charley, with another daughter on the way, Andrew values the flexibility his new role provides, allowing him to create memories with his family while still thriving professionally.
This profile is part of our Great Dads series, celebrating dads doing great things in Houston.
What is your name? Andrew Brenneise
Where do you live? I was born and raised in Plano, Texas, but for the last 10 years, Cypress has been my home.
Tell us about your family: My wife and I have a daughter, Charley, who just turned 5 in July. We’re also expecting another daughter in October, and we have our dog, Hank. Being a dog dad has its perks too.
What do you do for a living? I’ve been a State Farm Insurance Agent for over two years, running my own agency in Cypress. Before that, I spent about a decade as an engineer in oil and gas. I’m also a full-time father and a golf enthusiast, though that doesn’t pay as well!
What’s the best thing about being a dad? The best part is creating lasting memories. From watching them take their first steps to now helping them sound out words, it’s truly amazing.
What’s the hardest thing? Balancing work and fatherhood is one of the toughest challenges. As a business owner and a dad, it’s hard not to overwork.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Houston with your kids? Charley loves animals, so the Houston Zoo is one of our favorite spots.
