These are some of the best places to see Halloween decorations in Houston

With fall in full swing, there’s no better way to embrace the Halloween spirit in Houston than visiting festive homes decked out for the holiday.

Whether you appreciate a simple carved pumpkin on a homely porch or an elaborately orchestrated LED light show, this list is your go-to guide for the best-decorated areas in Houston.

This comprehensive list details family-friendly neighborhoods across the Greater Houston area that have gone all out this season, ensuring spooky sights and laughter across the city. Embrace the childhood nostalgia of Halloween and visit these top spots for holiday fun.

The Heights

A well-loved Halloween spot, this is the perfect area to participate in seasonal sightseeing. These extensively decorated lawns feature familiar favorites such as Frankenstein, clowns and witches. 

Area Standouts: A fan favorite, The Holiday House at 827 Nicholson St., boasts elaborate decorations for every holiday, with Halloween standing out as a must-see showcase. Many residents also love visiting White Oak Drive up to 11th Street, which is packed full of creative and spooky displays.

This family-friendly area is a hotspot during the Halloween season, so plan on parking a few streets down or utilizing a transportation service. 

The Woodlands 

 The Woodlands features an array of unforgettable festive homes. 

Area Standouts: Complete with LED lights, sound effects, and over 100 hand-painted dolls, W Greywing Circle features “The Doll House.” Other notable displays include a clown scene at Webb Creek Place, interactive characters and jumpscares at S. Winterport Circle, a synchronized pumpkin light and music show at 10 Amber Sky Place, ghostbusters and giant skeletons at Cascade Springs Place and ​​Pine Island Place, named the 2022 Spookiest House in Alden Bridge.

West University

Warmly referred to as “West U,” this neighborhood uses its spacious streets and grand homes to create an immersive Halloween experience. 

Area Standouts: One of the neighborhood’s most memorable scenes is a homemade cemetery located on the corner of Robinhood and Mercer, featuring humorous tombstones that pay tribute to past and present local businesses. Be sure to stay on the lookout for ever-changing skeleton props; they’ve been spotted sword fighting and even performing yoga poses. Other residents speak highly of Sunset Boulevard, noting its creative and festive displays.

River Oaks

This historic neighborhood provides a stylish background for the spooky decor that decorates the homes within. While these timeless residences are impressive, their festive embellishments are even more extravagant. 

Area Standouts: On the corner of Drexel Drive & Essex Lane, guests often frequent this area multiple times during the holiday season to observe the skeleton skit on display. Whether they’re recreating a scene from Karate Kid, or enjoying an other-worldly domestic moment, there’s always something new to discover. A few minutes down the road, you can find “The Bone Yard” at the 3700 block of Inwood, proudly displaying over 50 skeleton characters.

Robinson Road

Known as “Candy Cane Lane” during the winter, this neighborhood transforms into a real-life Halloween town in the fall. 

Area Standouts: Found on the 3100 block of Robinson Road, resident Fred Gregen decorates his lawn with over 200 plastic skulls, specialty tombstones, holograms and life-size animatronics. Other yards have been spotted with floating heads, dangling spiders and even an animatronic ghost standing over 20 feet tall. 

This popular community spot hosted over 3,000 guests in 2022. Due to increasing foot traffic, the neighborhood has previously provided public porta-potties and police officers to maintain a family-friendly and enjoyable atmosphere for all. 

Whitehaven Street

While this Bellaire street may be small, its Halloween spirit is substantial. 

Area Standouts: For those who enjoy a more modern Halloween celebration, the Halloween Light Show Extravaganza on the 5600 Block of Whitehaven displays an impressive technicolor scene that lights up the night. With alternating LED lights, a smoky jack-o’-lantern garden, and floating ghosts, this house is a must-see this Halloween season.

With blow-up ghouls and massive blinking skeletons, this street and its surrounding neighborhood are alive with holiday festivity.
